About Us
We have been involved with the cat world for many years now. We have worked with many different breeds throughout our career and my husband teases me saying that I have never met a cat that I didn't love.
Years ago we fine tuned our goals to fit our thoughts of what a purrfect cat would be. We strive to have one that has an even temperament and gets along well in family situations because they are a part of our family. We have small children still at home so ones that were wild and can not be trusted with our kids does not work for us. We also have other pets that we share our lives with so the breeds that we work with must get along well with other animals.
Excellent health and no breed issues is also important so that we hope they will live for as long as possible. The LaPerm Cat is a member of the Rex Breeds because of the curly coat. For those of you that have not seen one in person the coats can kind of look like a poodle. Some people in fact call them poodle cats. The curls are not as tight as a poodle but it help give you an idea.
The curly coats on a LePerm kitten take awhile to develop. Some kitten will have a short coat and others have the long coat. We are able to tell the length but the quality of curls is a little harder to know until the kitten becomes older. The personality is a standard and that you can count on for certain. We do our best to tell you what the coat will look like as an adult.
Some allergy sufferers are able to tolerate a LaPerm because they shed a little less than a normal cat. If you are allergic to hair this would be helpful. They are somewhat hypoallergenic. Special thanks goes to Mary Sharum for without her and some wonderful lines she shared with us we would be have these cats!! Our LaPerms are registered and we keep an eye on the breed standard and are working towards perfecting the breeds and having the best quality that we can. We are proud of our LaPerm Cattery.
